The next age box

You know, it seems like when you are move out of your current age box, entering a new age box, its as if you are going to be entering a whole new world. A world where you have more excuses for yourself, in term of physical.

Met up with some incamp friends for dinner last weekend and we were talking about some of the good and bad times of our active days, as well as our incamp training (ICT), and not forgetting how not to overwork our aging body in our coming current ICT. The good, the bad and the ugly. Its kind of funny how you would express your excuses in the emphasis of your age, the start of the new age box.

At the start of our ICT cycle, we were all looking at the loooong 13 10 years cycle. But of course, if we have army like this, I think it would be a sweet sweet cycle. Probably Army would always be overflow with people volunteering to go back for ICT. And now its already our 7th ICT. Time truly flies. 3 more to go and we would say bye bye to the green. Every time when we went back for ICT during the early years, we would be talking about work, career, girlfriend and of course, hot-blooded youngster shotgun marriage. Basically we had one such case each year we went back for our ICT. Then it graduately become talking about marriage and family, kids and wives. Then you will get your usual questions like those you get during your Lunar New Year visit to your relatives of when are you settling down. And now, you get questions like don't be so choosy when you tell them you are still single. Why cannot be choosy?

During ICT, you can truly see someone's characters. Very very much of it. For some weird unknown reasons, when people put on the green, they almost automatically become a group of adults that had the very mentality of children. They had problems following orders. They were afraid of doing m-o-r-e than others, or getting less benefits than others. Empty vessals still made the most noises. And just as useless as well.

At the same time, not to forget, the very organisation that conduct the ICT was at times at the centre of the stupidity. If they ever had to go through external audits for cost saving, a lot of people was so going to be in deep deep trouble. Oh well, its all the dynastic issues.

Happy birthday Sillypore

H-A-P-P-Y 4-1-S-T B-I-R-T-H-D-A-Y  S-I-L-L-Y-P-O-R-E

As with every year, fireworks has always been part of the celebration. But this year, they tried to make it grander with a series of more fireworks. I wonder who is paying. And also this will be the last time we will be having our national birthday celebration at the old national stadium. The new one won't be ready till 2010.

Every year this day, it went bom-bom-bom. I will go noisy-noisy-noisy. People from all around the island will make their way here, to see the fireworks. People like me who stayed around the stadium will try to get out and got stuck in the jam. People travelled here and waited for hours just to see that couple of minutes of fireworks while people like me just stayed inside the house and not even bothered to walk down to the river to enjoy the fireworks. Such irony, isn't it?

Its going to be quiet around here this time next year, and the year after next, and the next, and the next.

And also happy birthday to the few people whom I happened to know who shared the their birthday with the nation. Enjoy your day too. Have fun.

Party party party.

Buying scripts

The Infernal Affairs was one of the best HK movies to come out in the recent years, and I'm only referring to part 1. The rest of it was just, lost somewhere. And well, as usual, seems like hollywood latest trend is in buying scripts of Asian big hits and remake them for the white. The Ring, The Grudge are the examples. So catch the The Departed trailer here .
